In the nethics section you cited that one commandment was, "thou shalt not use copied software that you didn't pay for". These seems like it goes unobserved. How many people in the world or in the U.S. avoid this commandment because they want to save money? How much revenue do software companies miss out on do to people using copied software?
According to Wikipedia, the number of pirated software users has dropped in the US from 48% in 1989 to 25% in 2002 (2007). The US is the country most affected by the pirated software because they produce about 80% of the world's software (Copyright infringement, 2007). The software companies in the US are reporting a loss of revenue of $11-12 billion (Copyright infringement, 2007). China is the country who is has the most copyright infringement, they copy and use over 90% of software illegally (Copyright infringement, 2007).
