You mention a great list of guidelines for nethics to follow, but I was curious as to what happens if you break these rules? What are the repercussions, if any? Are there any studies/ information out there on how to fix breaking these rules?

After searching I could not find any real findings of consequences for not following netiquette guidelines. In some of the netiquette articles I looked at it basically said that people who didn't follow netiquette would be responsible for creating a large amount of spam. Other than that there were no consequences. I think that a major consequence for not following netiquette guidelines would be that users would be making the internet not appropriate for all users because of what could be found and it would make using the internet in a business environment more difficult because mailboxes would fill with spam and no one could use the internet to post presentations or share memos.
